Frequently asked questions
How do you estimate a concrete job?
Quantify by placement: slab square footage (thickness sets the yardage — a 4-inch slab runs about 81 SF per cubic yard before waste), footings and curbs by the linear foot, then reinforcement, base, vapor barrier, and finish as their own lines. Price material at your plant's per-yard rate with ~10% waste, labor by crew production rate, then burden and markup. The assemblies here follow that structure with the yardage math pre-baked per unit.
Why price demo, base, and pump as separate lines?
Because they vary job to job and are the first things a customer asks to cut. Separate lines keep your slab price competitive while making tear-out, gravel base, and pump-truck days visible and negotiable — and on commercial work, separate lines mean observable percent-complete when you bill.
Does it handle waste factors and over-excavation?
Waste is baked into each assembly's material cost (noted per assembly, ~10% on placed concrete) and every value is editable — if your subgrade runs rough and you pour 4.5 inches on average, set your own number. Your history becomes your price book; the defaults are just the starting point.
What about billing commercial concrete work?
